TCJ assessment
A fresher and more energetic expression of Douro white, immediately defined by its acidity. The palate has good fluidity, maintaining tension and freshness throughout, with a persistent finish that gives the wine more presence than its relatively light-footed profile initially suggests.
Vinha Grande is one of Casa Ferreirinha’s historic labels and, in its white version, draws on traditional Douro varieties including Viosinho, Arinto, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho. The fruit comes from high-altitude vineyards in the Douro Superior, an important element in preserving acidity and freshness in a region better known for its warm, dry conditions.
There is a clear sense of balance here. Acidity provides the backbone, while the wine remains fluid rather than broad or heavy. Freshness and persistence are the strongest points, resulting in a precise and convincing expression of modern Douro white.
