TCJ assessment

Syrah by the book. The 2018 combines expressive fruit with the variety’s characteristic peppery character, delivering a profile that feels immediately recognizable without becoming predictable.

The palate brings good texture and concentration, but balance remains the defining feature. Fruit, spice and structure are well integrated, giving the wine depth while maintaining precision and composure.

A very good example of the quality South Africa is capable of producing with Syrah. It combines varietal clarity with the texture and balance that have made Swartland an increasingly important reference for the grape.
