TCJ assessment
A compelling expression of Vigna Rionda, one of the historic vineyards of Serralunga d’Alba. Even from magnum and with more than a decade of bottle age, the 2011 remains strikingly youthful, suggesting that much of its evolution is still ahead.
Complexity here comes with remarkable elegance. The fruit is pure and clearly defined, carried through the palate with an almost linear sense of direction. There is concentration, but no excess weight. The structure feels polished and composed, giving the wine precision while allowing the character of Nebbiolo to remain at the center.
What impresses most is how complete the wine already feels without appearing fully developed. The fruit, structure and texture are beautifully aligned, yet there is enough youthful energy to suggest another level of complexity will emerge with time. A great Barolo, combining the authority of Serralunga with purity, precision and remarkable elegance.
