TCJ assessment

A remarkably elegant Bierzo, combining substantial fruit concentration with a polished, seamless structure. There are no obvious edges on the palate, and despite the intensity of fruit, the wine remains concise and precise.

Finca El Rapolao is produced by Diego Magaña under his Dominio de Anza project from El Rapolao, one of the notable vineyard sites around Valtuille de Abajo. Predominantly based on Mencía, its specific origin provides important context for a wine that goes beyond a general expression of Bierzo and focuses instead on the identity of a particular site.

The persistence is particularly impressive, with the fruit and structure carrying through a very long finish. Everything is already remarkably well composed, but the wine still feels young. Another five years in bottle should allow it to gain further integration and complexity.
