TCJ assessment
A classical Rioja by the book. Dark fruit is joined by coconut and cigar notes, creating a complex and immediately recognizable expression of the region’s traditional style.
Cune Gran Reserva is produced by CVNE, one of Rioja’s historic houses, founded in Haro in 1879. Tempranillo forms the core of the wine, complemented by Graciano and Mazuelo, while extended ageing in barrel and bottle is fundamental to the Gran Reserva identity. That background provides important context for the mature aromatic profile and complexity found in the wine.
What makes the 2018 particularly convincing is not novelty, but how clearly it delivers the style. Fruit, oak-derived character and development come together with good balance and definition. An excellent example of traditional Rioja Gran Reserva.
