TCJ assessment
1993 is not among the most celebrated Bordeaux vintages, but this bottle shows how compelling a great terroir can be in a less acclaimed year. More than three decades later, the wine still carries an impressive amount of fruit and feels particularly well positioned for drinking today.
The palate combines mature fruit with the graphite and mineral character so closely associated with Latour. The tannins have become beautifully velvety, giving the wine a polished texture while retaining enough structure and definition to keep everything precise.
The finish is excellent and persistent, with the fruit and mineral notes continuing well beyond the palate. A mature Latour showing beautifully today, and a reminder that less celebrated vintages can provide some of the most rewarding drinking when they reach the right moment.
