TCJ assessment
Few wines demonstrate the longevity of great Pomerol with such natural ease. More than seven decades after harvest, this magnum remained remarkably vibrant, with a level of freshness rarely encountered in wines of comparable age.
The bouquet opened slowly, revealing quiet red fruit alongside black truffle, cedar, cigar box and delicate balsamic and medicinal nuances developed through extended bottle ageing. Rather than fading with time, the aromas unfolded with increasing precision.
On the palate, the wine displayed remarkable harmony. The acidity remained vivid, providing energy and definition, while the tannins had fully integrated into a velvety texture. Every element felt complete, with no component standing above another. The finish was long, refined and unmistakably Pomerol, combining elegance with quiet persistence.
Its historical significance deepens the experience, but the classification belongs to the wine itself: profound, graceful and remarkably alive.
